CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. —
Following substantial social media chatter and an online campaign seeking “justice,” Channel 11 News attempted on Monday to interview the main players in a sad story of alleged animal neglect.
The dog now known as “Buddy” died late last week after having seizures. the woman who tried to save him talked to Channel 11 News, claiming that Buddy had been malnourished for months. she called authorities after witnessing the dog, tied up outside, having seizures under intensely sunny skies. At that point, she was told nothing could be done, and taking him would be trespassing.
Despite the legal reminder, the woman removed Buddy from the yard and took him to a friend’s veterinarian. the rescue attempt unfortunately failed.
The vet in question confirmed to Channel 11 News that he did, in fact, treat Buddy. he also confirmed that the dog was actively having seizures. he could not, however, blame the dog’s death on heat-related neglect, saying there may have been several underlying causes for the seizures. the vet also said that there were no outward signs of abuse.
When a Channel 11 News crew knocked on the door of the house where Buddy lived, nobody answered.
