FRANCES MICKLOW/THE STAR-LEDGERJanice Cuthbert and her Shitzupoo (part shitzu part poodle) Gizmo at a dog park in East Brunswick
Janice Cuthbert of East Brunswick thinks Gizmo — her Shih Tzu-poo — is the best pet in new Jersey.
“This dog is so great it’s not funny,” she said. “He’s more lovable than any dog I have ever had.”
Consider, mind you, that she has had six dogs in her lifetime. (And, in case you’re wondering, a Shih Tzu-poo is a cross between a Shih Tzu and a poodle. It’s very cute.)
But Gizmo has some competition.
“Brew is definitely the best dog,” said Joe Pacifico of Edison. one point in his favor: He’s named Brew because he likes to lap up spilled beer.
Pacifico doesn’t encourage this behavior, of course — he’s just amused by it. Beer-lover or not, Brew makes a good fishing buddy, he said.
These pets could be some of the top dogs — so to speak — in the Star-Ledger/NJ.com Pets Challenge, launching online today.
